My Journey from NYC to The DR

Moving from to the Dominican Republic changed everything for me.

I've had to hustle, and adapt to market forces to stay competitive with specialists in the US.

I've had the opportunity to work with California wineries, museums, high end ecommerce, and tech startups.

And now, I'm starting to build my next project.

Curious how it all unfolds?

When I moved to the DR, I faced unexpected challenges. Working from outside the US meant constantly adapting to new market forces. These experiences led me to create Lux Marketing, an agency focusing on data oriented marketing solutions.

At first, it was a struggle, but after four years, I found some balance. It wasn't easy, but perseverance paid off.

After five years, I realized that my actual skill is that I can see marketing and tech things others might miss. There are many things a senior software engineer can see and problems they can solve. The same goes for a marketing director. But what I discovered is that I can see blind spots at the intersection of these two roles.

I've also had to work with super low budgets, building demand and infrastructure from scratch. This experience taught me to be resourceful and innovative.

So far, I have helped two startups go from zero to revenue. Now, I'm looking for my next opportunity.

I’ve worked with two startups to help them get their first customers by focusing on messaging, data, and strategy. For these startups, I set up a full data strategy, built a data infrastructure with a data warehouse, and optimized conversion events. It’s become second nature to me now. Using data to drive decisions and improve strategies has been a core part of my approach. Seeing these startups transform from the ground up has been incredibly rewarding.

Your work on my AdWords campaigns has been invaluable. Having the flexibility to discuss things with you and put into practice only what I am comfortable with has been the biggest difference between other specialists. Most other companies insist on taking big monthly revolving fees, before proving themselves. Further, other companies do not know my market as well as you do. They claim to, but when you get to talking there are huge gaps in their understanding of a small medical business like mine.

Some of the Companies I've Worked With

Untitled-design-1

glossi.io

I helped Glossi.io step up their data collection, analytics, and marketing game. We implemented a solid setup using NGINX for first-party data collection, Jitsu, Google Tag Manager, BigQuery, identity stitching, bot detection, and targeted Facebook Ads.

This data-driven approach really paid off. Our Facebook Ads campaign ended up generating more than twice the number of sign-ups compared to their entire sales team, and we did it for less than $30 per sign-up. It just goes to show how powerful data-driven marketing can be for user acquisition and growth.

yellowpicnic.com

I organized and established the LLC structure for Yellow Picnic and set up foundational financial reports. I led the brand planning, launched the website, and crafted compelling copy. I implemented customer onboarding with Mautic, designed customer service processes with Chatwoot and Twilio, and developed product offers. I spearheaded marketing initiatives, integrated Jitsu CDP for data tracking, utilized Google Server Side Tag Manager, and implemented a WooCommerce subscription model. These efforts resulted in a successful launch, enhanced customer experience, subscription growth, and five-figure revenue in the first three months.

santamonicahistory.org

At Lux Marketing Agency, I was brought on by the Santa Monica History Museum to fix a technical issue on their website and manage social media campaigns for a big fundraising event. I developed a custom WordPress plugin that integrated with Meta's Conversion API (CAPI) to enable real-time sales tracking, getting around issues like ad blockers.

I also ran comprehensive Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns to boost exposure and participation for the event. The custom sales tracking plugin solved the technical problems, and our social media efforts made the fundraiser the most financially successful event in the museum's history. This project showed how combining technical solutions with strategic social media marketing can overcome challenges and achieve outstanding results.

I have had the pleasure of working with Julio over the past year during our collaboration between Lux Marketing and Glossi. Julio's expertise and creativity continue to impress me. His proficiency in leveraging the latest technologies to enhance business performance has led me to recommend him to several clients, confident in his ability to boost conversions. Julio consistently demonstrates his marketing acumen by developing and executing successful ad and retargeting campaigns for our brand. His deep knowledge of website performance and user experience ensures that he prioritizes and maximizes conversion opportunities. Julio sees the big picture, recognizing the critical importance of integrating business tech stacks and synchronizing departmental functions. This holistic approach ensures businesses fully capitalize on comprehensive marketing, lead generation, and social media strategies.

Currently Battling Fear of Failure

This was my first post on Instagram. Even though there are many people who can share valuable things with the world, sometimes fear holds you back. If you want to see how I work through this scroll below.

Here's My Ask

So, here's the thing. I'm starting to post on social, but it's not because I'm looking for something specific. You'll see that I'm about to break all the rules of marketing here. What I'm really after is connecting with people who value the kind of work I do.

The gap I'm filling is this unique mix of tech and marketing. It's not always easy to find folks who get what I'm talking about. It's a challenge, but that's part of the journey. Follow me while I find my voice and share my experiences. Let's see where this takes us.

I worked with Julio López to develop a brand guide and central concept for my pediatric dentistry practice. Julio took the time to understand my vision and values, and created a brand guide that defines my visual identity and establishes a consistent tone and voice across all my communications. Since implementing these strategies, I have seen a significant increase in the number of patients and greater interaction on social media.
